The difference between Paramo systems and conventional approaches lies in the word 'DIRECT'. The fabrics we use do not merely hold water back (waterproof) or passively pass moisture vapour (breathe), but actively push or pull liquid water into the right spot.

The Nikwax Analogy fabric system mimics a mammals fleece, and combines the water moving characteristics with wind-proofing. We have all seen a wet dog shake, and put water in the right place for its own comfort. We combined fabric construction and water-repellency in a textile to provide exactly the same effect.

System Dual Protection is a revolutionary system in wearer comfort. The system works on the same principle as double glazing. If you look at the double glazing in your home you should not experience any condensation on the inside. System Dual Protection works using a similar principle: The outer layer being one of our Innovation series of fabrics which are hydrophilic coated. The inner layer comprises of a special fibre which is also laminated with a hydrophilic film.

Unlike ordinary breathable fabrics, which offer just one barrier to water getting in and one exit to allow perspiration out, Dual protection gives two layers of protection. We’ve also included a highly efficient wickable lining, which is bonded to the secondary layer. This quickly whisks moisture away from the body and out through the fabric.

The inner layer uses a special fibre to wick away condensation onto a hydrophilic membrane and away from the body.

The airgap acts as a thermal insulator and a bridge between the inner & outer layers.

The outer layer works works in conjunction with the airgap enabling the moisture to escape at its own pace thus avoiding cold bridging & reverse breathability which occurs on single layer garments.

If the outer layer is damaged, System Dual Protection will still go on performing in both waterproofness and breathability.

Tested by the Ministry of Defence to a class 3 material, the highest classification obtainable for waterproofness and breathability.
