The Petzl I'D Descender is a self-braking descender belay device with anti-panic function. Used for descending a rope and for belaying. Anti-error safety catch to reduce the risk of an accident due to incorrect installation of the device on the rope. Anti-panic function: if the user pulls too hard on the handle, the cam will lock on the rope. Locking position on the handle for positioning while on the rope. When used for hauling, allows the system to be reversible.
Every position has a click to tell you when you are in each mode and each of these modes is now clearly marked on the reverse of the device removing any confusion if it is used upside down for hauling or rescue, the angle of the cam has been altered to give a smoother rope run when in the ascent mode and there is a button on the end of the handle which releases the cam slightly so that rope runs through the device in a controlled manner when paying out on a gradual slope (such as a roof), the device can also now be 'permanently' secured shut (if being used as part of a rescue kit for instance) using a small screw which is stored within the device.
